On July 4, UCTE made contact with the members of the Standing Transport Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities (TRAN), which has been reconstituted for the new session of parliament. The letter to the chair of the committee is posted here.
We have been working with this committee to get our report on Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) services on their agenda. The report examines the Canadian Aviation Regulations compared to the International Civil Aviation Organization standards for AARF and identifies discrepancies.
At the same time, the Transport Canada is consulting on addressing discrepancies between ICAO and CARs, pursuant to a motion in the legislature in 2023.
We are optimistic about moving forward with this new government and getting a hearing at a session of the TRAN committee to advance improvements to the regulations.
