Clara Hughes, an Olympic champion and a champion of better mental health, spoke to our national Leadership Conference in 2025. She has been open about a battle with depression in her own life, and she advocates for better mental health awareness. Her upcoming second memoir is about her ongoing physical and mental healing journey.
The World Health Organization has made workplace mental heath a focus of WMHD in the past. This year, it’s about including people with lived experience of mental health struggles in policy making, which is also applicable to workplace health.
Workers who are affected by workplace mental health hazards must be included in the process of addressing them. That’s where unions come in. Joint workplace safety and health committees have access to mental health training and resources that have been developed in recent years.
