Sunday September 7 was the 2025 Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony, part of the annual memorial weekend organized by the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (CFFF). Regina Local 40403 President Trevor Martel represented UCTE and paid our respects.
It’s a powerful event. Pipes, drums, and marching bands set the tone while firefighters and loved ones march and observe.
“It was an absolute honour and a privilege,” said Brother Martel, “to march alongside hundreds of other fire service members from across the country to honour the fallen firefighters and their families.”
Brother Martel spoke with two of the volunteers to thank them for what they were doing. “They said they had lost a family member whose name was added to the Memorial Wall last year. They saw firsthand the support the CFFF gave them and their family and wanted to give back. So this year they volunteered for some of the events held throughout the weekend.”
