The Government of Canada has chosen as this year’s theme “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.”
Celebrating Black Brilliance helps us remember that the story of oppression is only one side of Black history. Another side is the story of the perseverance, talent, and spirit that Black Canadians cultivated in order to survive, to thrive, and to uplift others.
The role of Black Canadians in building this country’s prosperity, and the long road to equity, go back to the very roots of Canada and continue into the future.
