This is International Civil Aviation Day. This day was established in 1994 on the 50th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Canada is a founding member of ICAO – headquartered in Montreal — where member states work together on international standards and regulations to keep civilian air travel safe and reliable.
For ICAO the day’s purpose is to highlight how international civil aviation helps create worldwide peace and prosperity.
For UCTE it is essential to recognize the talent and dedication of our members.
It takes the work of many people to enable safe air travel, most of whom travellers will never see. UCTE represents many workers in aviation including airport workers including aircraft firefighters, Civil Aviation Inspectors at Transport Canada, workers at the Transportation Safety Board, at NAV CANADA, and at the Canadian Transportation Agency.
We salute and thank our members. Your work ensures compliance with safety regulations, keeps passengers safe, and supports local economies by keeping the aviation industry running. Canadian families and businesses rely on you every day!
