Documenting over a hundred years of organizing
At Convention 2023, UCTE released United in Action. In 150 pages it chronicles the history of UCTE – from the very origins of labour organizing within the federal civil service, through strikes and struggles up to the present day.
Written by longtime UCTE activist, staffer, and historian Ken Clavette, the book is dedicated to the memory of Brother Dave Clark, who championed the project and sadly passed in 2023 before it was completed. Special thanks to the many UCTE members and staff who helped realize his vision.
As the foreword by Dr. Steven High has it: “Like all unions, the [UCTE] was forged in struggle. Knowing this history offers members a source of strength and inspiration for the struggles to come.”
This pdf version of the book is available for viewing or download.
Hard copies were distributed at the 2023 convention. If you’re interested in ordering the book for yourself or your local, please contact ucte-ucet@psac-afpc.com.
