Members may have seen the news this week: PSAC has filed two legal actions about the Early Retirement Incentive (ERI). These are a policy grievance and an Unfair Labour Practice (ULP) complaint.
Both have to do with the way the federal government rolled out the ERI program without meeting its obligation to consult with the union.
The government has not yet released all the details about the ERI. As PSAC says, ”Members deserve access to every tool available to protect their jobs, and those tools must be lawful, transparent, and consistent with collective agreements.”
Members are encouraged to learn more and talk with a union representative before making decisions about early retirement.
