Last week (May 7-9) saw the PSAC Parks Canada bargaining conference in Gatineau, QC. Delegates discussed issues and elected the bargaining team for the upcoming round of negotiations.
UCTE represents Parks workers on the Chambly Canal, Rideau Canal, Sault Ste. Marie Canal, and Trent-Severn Waterway. The canals are special workplaces with unique issues and priorities.
Our Parks delegates – one per region plus an equity delegate – made up a small but mighty group who worked well as a team to make UCTE’s voice heard. They supported Kevin Alldread who was elected to the bargaining team as UCTE delegate, and Mohamed Zaid who is our alternate.
They also contributed a lot of energy in a march to the Parks Canada offices – see them in action here.
We will keep you informed about developments in Parks Canada bargaining.
